Great blog Meg! I was just chatting to a friend the other day who mentioned how crap I am at self promotion. Lol! I love this quote - "compliments are gifts of prosperity, accept them graciously" Louise Hay. I think of it like this. If someone gave me flowers and I threw them back in their face it's similar to refusing to accept a compliment. A gift they have given you. Smile and say thank you. :). The quickest way to self love is to stop criticising ourselves, then we can stop criticising others. If we can't be our own raving fan, how can we expect others to be?

Thanks for your comments Moose. Yes, I think from a business point of view, recommendations can be very strong and I think we are keen to recommend others and 'big up' others - especially those we know will offer a great service or product. We do sometimes need to be better at 'bigging up' ourselves in person and not feeling embarrassed about doing that. I say that, but I KNOW it's hard to do in practice. I think some of the advice on Claire's blog post is very good.

Really interesting and its not only the British who are "modest" it's important not to damage your selfworth but I do think a recommendation from another is stronger than from ones self. xxx once you have the job it's then important to instill confidence so your client is sure you will deliver, they need not see the nuts and blots of agnst..... love to hear a response on this.
