What a great way to learn about the local culture! Because of the close ties between the U.S. and Puerto Rico, I have always had easy access to American shows. Because of that, I have avoided local programming altogether. But you have inspired me to give it another try. Thanks for that!

That is too funny and just goes to show you how insane the news coverage is of this show! As I commented to Cate above, I didn't have a TV when I lived in Prague and I kinda miss that sometimes. I guess my middle age old life has changed a lot since my carefree days in Prague. Sigh.

I've been wondering what all the fuss is about, because I keep seeing stuff in the news about this. I don't have a TV though, so I'm a bit out of touch with television in general. But a scandal over a baked Alaska sounds intriguing...

I know what you mean Cate, when I was living in Prague we didn't even have a TV. Luckily most of the movies were in English with Czech subtitles. In Tokyo, we had a TV but it didn't get any English language channels. We mostly watched videos (shows my age!) but we were fascinated by Japanese television. Astonishing!! Thanks for doing the #MyGlobalLife blog link up.

I think I watched some of the GBBO while in the UK last year! OR I watched the Australian version when I was in Melbourne. Can't remember, but I do remember watching a non-US baking reality show and being fascinated by it.

One of the things I loved about traveling to English-speaking countries last year was that I could watch TV - you gain so much cultural insight doing so. My husband and I spent Christmas in Ireland a few years ago and it was so much fun to watch all of the Christmas specials, Christmas cooking shows, etc.

Thanks for participating in the #MyGlobalLife Link-Up!
