Happy Thanksgiving with love from the UK
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow expat Americans in the UK and to everyone in the USA who are celebrating today. Missing it and missing my family on this special day. Have fun eating!! Although I’m not doing a big Thanksgiving dinner this year, I did make a pumpkin pie – yum – and last night I celebrated it with my family while out for my birthday meal at Woodies Diner.
As is traditional, we all expressed what we are thankful for. Most surprising was my 13 year old son who said “I’m thankful for my lovely parents”. That brought a tear to my eye as he’s usually not so forthcoming and I normally barely get a hello from him after school as he makes a mad dash for his tech.
By the way, if you’re hankering for some good ol’ Americana and some yummy food, try out Woodies. The milkshakes are delish! This was our first time here and we all loved it. Great food, great service, cool atmosphere and perfect for kids.
So here we are paying tribute to this American holiday with one American, one British (he’s the one taking the pic) and three cross-cultural kids!
Happy Thanksgiving all!
